The Groom's Cake

The groom’s cake is delicious sidekick to the show stopping bride’s cakes. The groom’s cake has been around for decades, even going as far back as the Victorian era. In the Victorian era there were three cakes; the groom’s cake for the groomsmen, the wedding cake that was served to the guests, and a brides cake that was served to the bridesmaids. In this day and age grooms cakes are now provided to contrast the brides cake and this can be seen in the flavoring and color. Groom’s cakes are often chocolate with fruit or liqueur accents, which contrasts to the usual light or white colored. The groom’s cakes are often themed and highlight the grooms hobbies or likeness, which puts a little spotlight on the man of the day.

The biggest question surrounding the groom's cake is when to serve it. There is often hesitation and concern with serving it during the reception because it is such a contrast from the wedding cake. For those worried with this problem we recommend the groom's cake be served during the rehearsal dinner because that is an event that is almost completely paid for by the groom's family. This will solve the issue of the clashing cakes and still give the main man his spotlight during a bride centered day.

FUN FACT:
The groom’s cake isn’t just a tasty treat to honor the groom, it is also said to be helpful matchmaker to all the single ladies attending the big event. Legend has it that if a single lady sleeps with a slice of the groom’s cake under her pillow she will dream of her future husband! This may be the perfect gift for a few special guests- just make sure to add a tag explaining the myth! Looks like this sweet treat is so much more than what it originally seemed!
