Everything Flowers- Fall Edition

As the fall season begins life naturally starts to slow down, we send our little ones back to school and start planning for weekends playing in the leaves. As everything beautiful and green around us starts to turn in the warm rich colors of fall we start designing using deeper browns and gold tones and love adding curly willow and birch trees. Listed below are a few examples of our favorite fall flowers.

Cole Dewey Designs

Cole Dewey is one of Oklahoma’s talented florists. We love this florist because she brings so much heart to the table when meeting with brides. She said was destined to become a florist after spending countless hours helping her mother in her own florist shop when she was growing up.

“I knew instantly that this is what I wanted to do,” said owner and designer Cole Dewey.

Cole has only been in business for a few short years but has already made a name for herself in the florist industry by working fifty to sixty weddings per year. Her excellent service and the ability to cater specifically to the clients wants and needs has helped her establish herself in this business. She also brings a unique approach to all her floral designs.

“I’m known for having a texture-garden look, for using an interesting mix of flowers," says Cole, "I'm also known for my level of service. I meet with every client and design everything. When they email or call it comes straight to me, they are getting first hand service."

She has a flawless reputation, passion and well defined sense of style really helps her connect with today's bride.

Cole's store is currently located downtown Oklahoma City and she share's her space with a local boutique. She plans to move into a new space soon that will support her business as it continues to grow.

Everything Flowers- Spring Edition

Flowers are an essential part of every wedding. While it’s possible to get any flower your heart desires at any time throughout the year it may not be what’s best for your budget or your color scheme. Each season has a specific color tone, for example with a spring wedding you will want to design using soft pastel colors.  To ensure you are getting the most ‘bang for your buck’ stick with the flowers that are in season. To help all of our lovely readers out we have broken it down to seasonal flowers and their color pallets.

SPRING

·      Roses
·      Tulips
·      Peonies
·      Calla Lilies
·      Irises
·      Daffodils
·      Hydrangea
·      Lily of the Valley
·      Sweet Pea
·      Hyacinths

Spring is the season of pastels. When planning the bridal bouquet of your dreams keep in mind that you will be wanting soft pinks and blues and peach pastel colors. Another idea to keep in mind is to ask your florist about "filler flowers" that are in season. These "filler flowers" help add volume to bouquets and floral arrangements without adding cost.

Featured below are a few examples of our favorite spring floral arrangements.

The Fleuriste

The Fleuriste is a unique flower shop that brings a chic style to Oklahoma’s weddings and events. This store has only been located in the metro area for 3 years after moving to Oklahoma from Las Vegas.  Even though they have been here a short time the Fleuriste has already acquired strong cliental. “My wife, Allison, is a native Oklahoman so when the opportunity to move here arose we took it,” says owner George Michael Catechis.

They are known for their unique style as well as their store ‘manager’. The couple has their family pet –a cute little dog that takes up a little corner of the store, often napping through the hustle and bustle of the busy days.

The Fleuriste  take on events based on the size and work load. “We have events that dominate entire weekends,” says George. This company considers themselves very unique by offering more than just talented designs. “We consider ourselves floral decorators not just florist,” says George, “We like to think we offer our clients more than just flowers.”

The Fleuriste recommends that the bride to be have an idea of what she’s looking for with her floral design and often steer her towards pinterest for creative ideas. “Pinterest has been a great tool for our clients, we like to recommend they create a pinterest board so that when they come in for the initial meeting they have somewhat of an idea of the floral design they want,” says George.

In our opinion, the Fleuriste is raising the bar on wedding florals in this market with their fresh take on designs. We are excited to see him lead the charge to bring Oklahoma City into the new modern age of elegant weddings.
